A boats hull design is one of the most important aspects of your purchase.  The hull design is the largest contributor to ride quality, efficiency and performance.  Conventional thought on aspects that make a hull ride and perform well are contributed to a deep V shaped hull combined with the boats weight.  The deeper the V, the smoother the ride and the more hull is in the water creating more drag.  This requires a larger engine to propel the boat through the water which in turn reduces fuel efficiency.  The designers at Regal decided to invest in researching a way to create a hull design that delivers unparalleled performance, ride quality and efficiency.  Regal introduced the FasTrac Hull in 1995 which does just that. The FasTrac Hull gives you more control on the water, with up to 26% faster speeds, and at the fuel pump, with up to 30% better fuel efficiency.

Each Regal model featuring the FasTrach Hull is unique to that model.  Each model is designed to not only to be the best Regal can offer but to be the best performing boats on the market.  Regal achieved this by building a hull with 5 main characteristics in each FasTrac Hull.

  • Deep V Shaped Hull – Creating a hull that ride smooth in rough water requires a deep v shaped hull through out the entire length of the boat.  A well designed hull does not rely on weight to ride well, hull shape is far more important.  Regal achieves smoother rides out of smaller, lighter weight boats than other competitive brands.
  • Full Beam Stepped Hull – Since the deep v shaped hull creates more wetted surface area, Regal researched ways to reduce the drag while not sacrificing ride and performance.  After extensive testing, the designers carefully crafted a full beam mid-ship stepped hull design that reduces the wetted surface area which in turn reduces drag.  Reducing drag delivers faster cruise speeds and top speeds along with better fuel efficiency when compared to competitive models at the same size, weight and powered with the same engines.
  • Overstated Lifting Strakes – These lines running across the bottom of the boat are actually a small flat surface area.  Flat surfaces are naturally pushed to the top of the water as the boat moves through the water.  This creates lift and assist with reducing the wetted surface area and reducing drag.  All planing hulls have lifting strakes, the FasTrac hull incorporates carefully placed, slightly wider lifting strakes to gain additional lift.
  • Reversed Chines – The outside edges of the hull are carefully crafted in a slight negative angle which gives a Regal FasTrac Hull the ability to turn smooth, sharp, safely and predictably.  Other deigns often slide in turns where the FasTrac turns with precision.
  • Extended Running Surface – Many models Regal offers with the FasTrac Hull utilizes a extended running surface.  This design is used to lower bow rise and help reduce the time and power need to get the boat on plane.

At Talley’s Pier 77 Marine, our gauge of great performance includes the whole package from ride quality, maneuverability, acceleration, tracking in rough water, efficiency and speed.  Many of these characteristics that are difficult if not impossible to measure. When we say best performance, we are not just talking about speed, we are referring to the unparalleled driving experience that can only be found on a Regal FasTrac Hull.
